Hawaii Farm
Extraordinary Volunteer         Vacations in East Hawaii
in an actual rainforest!

Volunteer Vacations

It has taken many loving hands to create the magical rainforest paradise
here at "A Beautiful Day." We are very grateful for the many blessings of
joy and beauty which we experience on a daily basis.

We have had an amazing response from our ad and by word of mouth.
We are  pleased that there are so many who are interested in our programs.
And it's great for us to have some extra hands around here helping out! We
are an organic permaculture mini-farm with adorable animals as well as a
certified nursery. We also have vacation rentals and an artisan day spa.
Your experience here will include numerous aspects of participation:
gathering herbs, propagating plants and using biodynamic methods
to utilize everything growing on the property.

We have a very special slice of paradise here, blessed with plants,
animals, and incredible beauty. We are a green, quiet property, with
reverence for each other and the land. It is our hope to create a very
positive experience which will enable us to meet conscious people
from other parts of the islands, country and world.  We welcome those
who love nature and enjoy peace and quiet. We encourage intentional
silence and contemplation.

We are a haven for artists and writers, and strive to create a
beautiful and peaceful environment for creative people.

The short term working vacation accommodations include the upstairs
garden room or the treehouse. Longer stays may have the option of staying
in a cabin or cottage, which have indoor bathrooms.

A typical day for a volunteer begins at 8:30 a.m. We start with meditation and yoga,
followed by vegetation food preparation. Then it's outside for the animal feeding and
exercise. Later there is permaculture design practices, food harvesting, plant care. We
teach multi-tasking and encourage creative thinking. Much of the work here requires
purposeful thought and zero waste. We strive for beauty and abundance, the food that
is grown on the property is fresh and nutritious.

After the lunch break, we do a bit of housekeeping, followed by artistic and grounds-
beautification projects and some light maintenance. We encourage self-direction for
much of the time and appreciate creative approaches to projects. Often spirit may step
in for guidance and we honor that.

As evening approaches, we find a closing point for the projects of the day around 5:00,
finish returning the animals to their sleeping area and the evening meal. Sometimes we
eat together, sometimes we have our meals separately.

We have a variety of excursions at no additional cost or by donation, including: sufi dance
public speaking, treks to the waterfalls, warm ponds, Hilo and Maku'u Farmers Markets,
yoga, black sand beaches, Kirtan, beaches and much more. There are also optional
activities such as ziplining, horseback riding, water massage and a variety of activities
that are available nearby for a fee.

All around the property is lush green vegetation: bananas, surinam cherries,
macadamia nuts, avocados, tangerines, breadfruit, starfruit, oranges, limes
and even dragonfruit! There are often bumper crops of one fruit at a time.
For those who stay long enough, you will be able to sample them all!

There are beautiful tropical palms, orchids, tropical flowers and magnificent
rainbow eucalyptus trees throughout the entire property.

But by far, the most exciting part of our property is the animals. We have a very
special miniature donkey named Mocha Latte and his best friend Dasher the goat.
(Pictured at top with Oreo) There is also Chris and Sashimi the cats and Edgar Winter,
Nugs, Macadamia, and other bunny family members. Also a variety of unique
"boutique" chickens, with Mrs. Shortcakes and Quicksilver as the stars of the
show. They are free-range and you will have a chance to know them all!

Other Activities

Depending upon schedules, there are a variety of activities and excursions you
may wish to participate it. These include: visits to the waterfalls, yoga, art classes, yoga,
kirtan, dolphin swims, zipline adventures, comedy and improvisation, Kirtan, trance dance
zumba, pilates and much more.

We are extremely proud of our tiny slice of heaven. With cooperation and mutual respect we are able to embrace a lifestyle in harmony with one another and the elements of nature.

                  OUR VISION AND SOME SUGGESTIONS

Our program is designed for visitors staying here for a month or longer. This is an extraordinary opportunity to explore a unique connection with the elements of nature while nurturing your own creativity. We are a very special destination, and many visitors come here after an exhaustive, disappointing search for "the best deal" and wish they had come here first.

Please note that this is a rainforest environment. Plan to
dress accordingly and avoid sweet foods.

If you plan on arranging your own transportation to and from the property, there are taxi's from the airport or we
can arrange to pick you up for about half the cost. We can also suggest a transportation professional. If you like, we can even help to arrange visits to some of the special sites in the area as well as take you to cultural events in the community.

It's a good idea to plan on renting a car for at least part of your visit here. We are not close to public transportation, and it will give you an opportunity to see the island at your own pace.

We are close to the town of Kea'au, which has a natural food store, regular grocery store and a farmers market.

We certainly have a wonderful community in East Hawai'i. Come and join us in one of the most beautiful places on earth! For other vacation options click here:  http://www.tours.com
